Description

Phu Lersi Pong | BE 2569 | Size: 4 × 3.5 cm

Enemies, jealous competitors, and troublesome people can make life difficult, especially when they interfere with your business or livelihood. Attracting wealth alone isn’t always enough. You also want to protect what you’ve built and keep those who wish you harm from getting in your way.

Wua Tanu has long been kept for protection and suppressing hostile forces. However, depending on the lineage and wicca, its traditional uses can also extend to wealth, business, influence, gaining favour, and even turning enemies into allies. Those familiar with Phu Lersi Pong’s earlier creations should already know this.

For this BE 2569 batch, he has used 100% pure Krang collected from a jujube tree to mould the entire Wua Tanu. This material has a long history in older Wua Tanu traditions. However, handling it is far more troublesome than it looks.

Wua Tanu – A Guardian That Fights Back

Wua Tanu, or Sacred Bull Guardian, is one of the older forms of Thai occult guardians. Through specific wicca and consecration, practitioners traditionally prepare Wua Tanu to serve as a guardian for its owner.

Its reputation comes mainly from protection against black magic, hostile spirits, enemies, malicious intentions, and other harmful influences. Certain Wua Tanu traditions go further. They are associated with confronting hostile forces, suppressing enemies, and driving away those intending to cause trouble.

For this reason, people have long kept Wua Tanu to guard homes, land, property, and businesses. Older accounts even describe the Sacred Bull confronting intruders or hostile forces on behalf of its owner.

But Wua Tanu isn’t all about fighting enemies.

In certain older traditions, people also carried Wua Tanu when conducting business, meeting important people, negotiating, or facing those who held grudges against them.

Rather than always overpowering the other party, the intention could also be to soften hostility, gain sympathy, turn enemies into friends, and encourage cooperation.

There is also the wealth and Metta side of Wua Tanu. Depending on the lineage, its wicca can cover business prosperity, customer attraction, charm, popularity, influence, and gaining favour from others.

For business owners, attracting customers is important. However, gaining trust, support, and favourable treatment matters too. The same applies to negotiations and dealing with people who can influence your opportunities.

Phu Lersi Pong has been making Wua Tanu for years. Those familiar with his earlier Wua Tanu Tong Maha Setthi and Prai Wua Tanu See Pheung should know their extensive range of effects.

His earlier batches covered wealth, business, charm, attraction, relationships, influence, career advancement, protection, and enemy suppression. Although each batch has its own materials and consecration, his Wua Tanu has never been limited to protection alone.

Jujube Tree Krang – The Old-School Wua Tanu Tradition

Krang, or lac, is a natural resinous substance produced by insects living on certain trees. These insects secrete a sticky coating that gradually hardens. As a result, people can collect and prepare the Krang for different purposes.

Those who have collected older Thai amulets or takrut should be familiar with Krang. Practitioners have long used it to seal takrut, bind sacred materials, and prepare different types of occult amulets.

But Krang isn’t valued simply because it sticks.

In certain Thai occult traditions, Krang is associated with Metta Mahaniyom, protection against harmful occult influences, avoiding danger, and guarding against misfortune.

Metta Mahaniyom concerns gaining favour, goodwill, popularity, and having people look upon you positively. Therefore, these effects are particularly sought after in business, sales, negotiations, and relationships.

On the protective side, Krang also appears in traditional talismans intended to ward off black magic and other harmful spiritual influences. However, its intended effects depend on the particular preparation and consecration, rather than the material alone.

And not all Krang is treated the same.

Certain older traditions specifically call for Krang collected from particular trees. Some even specify branches facing a particular direction. Therefore, the source of the Krang can form an important part of the traditional preparation.

One of the better-known examples comes from Luang Phor Noi of Wat Sisa Thong. His Wua Tanu tradition specifically involved Krang collected from jujube trees.

According to older accounts, practitioners collected Krang from east-facing jujube branches, traditionally from at least three trees. The preparation also involved other materials, including copper or silver wire frameworks and takrut placed within the bull.

Furthermore, Luang Phor Noi’s Wua Tanu wasn’t known only for protection. Traditional accounts also describe carrying it for business, meeting influential people, gaining favour, and easing hostility between enemies.

So jujube-tree Krang already has a place in older Wua Tanu traditions. However, those particular requirements belong to Luang Phor Noi’s lineage. They should not be confused with Phu Lersi Pong’s own methods.

Pure Krang, No Shortcuts – A Bull That’s Anything But Easy To Make

Krang isn’t something new to Phu Lersi Pong’s Wua Tanu either. His earlier Wua Tanu Tong Maha Setthi already involved Krang collected from three jujube trees during its preparation.

But this BE 2569 batch is different.

The entire Sacred Bull Guardian is moulded from pure jujube-tree Krang. There is no metal framework underneath, no powders or other ingredients mixed into the body, and no outer coating over another material.

And making something like this isn’t as simple as heating the Krang and pouring it into a mould.

When cool, Krang is hard and solid. Once heated, however, it softens and becomes extremely sticky. This makes it difficult to handle and control.

Unlike molten metal, softened Krang doesn’t simply flow neatly into every part of a mould. Therefore, Phu Lersi Pong has to work quickly. He uses tools to manipulate the sticky material into the mould before it starts cooling and hardening again.

Even with a mould, the process takes considerable effort. There is only a limited window to handle the Krang. Furthermore, its stickiness makes forming the bull properly much more troublesome than ordinary moulding.
