Description

Kruba Thep | BE 2568 | Only a Few Made | Size: 12.2 × 12.2 cm

People often turn to Phra Pikanet (Ganesha) when business slows down, work becomes difficult, or opportunities keep slipping away. But not every Ganesha-related piece follows the familiar form that most people know. Phra Pisanu Khru Narai Plaeng comes from an older Thai yant tradition. Here, the elephant-headed figure also holds the position of Borom Khru, the Supreme Teacher.

The beliefs behind this yant place particular importance on protection, success and blessings, along with the respect traditionally given to the Khru. There is also an interesting history behind it, involving old manuscripts, several respected masters, and teachings that Kruba Thep received directly from Luang Pu Wichian.

From the Old Manuscripts of Luang Pu Wichian

According to Kruba Thep, this Phra Pisanu Khru Narai Plaeng yant originates from the old manuscripts of Luang Pu Wichian Wimlo of Wat Ban Samoe Jai, Sisaket. Some of these teachings are said to be around a hundred years old.

Luang Pu Wichian had extensive knowledge of traditional Thai magical sciences, having spent many years studying under different masters. Among those Kruba Thep mentioned were Luang Pho Khian of Wat Tham Khun Nen, Luang Pho Derm of Wat Nong Pho, and Luang Pho Thop of Wat Chan Daen. He explained that Luang Pu studied directly under these masters rather than simply learning from their written teachings.

Several monks later helped gather and preserve Luang Pu Wichian’s old manuscripts. These included Phra Ajarn Tee and Phra Ajarn Nan of Wat Khon Daeng, along with Phra Maha Kittipong of Wat Pho Ban Oi. They worked on transcribing the old writings and keeping the teachings available for those who continued to study them.

Kruba Thep also explained that he personally studied these manuscripts. He had also received the formal transmission of teachings from Luang Pu Wichian himself. Recognising the importance of this particular yant, he decided to reproduce it.

Phra Pisanu Khru — The Supreme Teacher

What makes Phra Pisanu Khru Narai Plaeng interesting is its connection to both the Supreme Teacher and Phra Pikanet.

Kruba Thep explained that the old manuscripts refer to Phra Pisanu Khru as a Borom Khru. This highly revered teacher is associated with protection against danger. In traditional Thai magical practices, the Khru holds an important position. The teachers pass down knowledge and, according to tradition, also offer blessings and protection.

The elephant-headed appearance carries an association with Phra Pikanet, whom many worship for success, wisdom, prosperity and removing obstacles.

Kruba Thep also explained an old belief concerning the order of worship. When seeking blessings from different deities, one should first pay respect to Phra Pikanet. According to this belief, doing so helps one’s subsequent prayers and requests for blessings succeed more easily.

Together, these beliefs give the yant its importance, particularly for those seeking protection, better opportunities, success in their undertakings, and the blessings of the Khru.

Silver-Plated & Entirely Hand-Engraved

Every piece from this BE 2568 release has silver plating and intricate hand engraving. The yant contains fine details and sacred inscriptions, and reproducing the old design requires considerable care.

The difficulty lies in the amount of engraving involved. Each piece requires time and careful work, especially with the smaller details and numerous inscriptions. Because of this difficulty, Kruba Thep made only a few pieces, with each one featuring individual hand engraving rather than mass production.

Each yant measures 12.2 × 12.2 cm. We keep the pieces as they are, without framing or rolling, leaving the choice to the owner. You can place one into a frame of your choice for display and worship. Alternatively, you can roll it up to wear as an amulet, depending on how you prefer to keep it.

Phra Pisanu Khru Narai Plaeng is particularly interesting for those who worship Phra Pikanet or respect the traditional Khru. It also appeals to collectors of old Thai yants. Apart from its spiritual significance, the connection to Luang Pu Wichian’s teachings gives this limited release its own appeal. So does the difficulty of engraving each silver-plated piece.
