Description

Ajarn Kitkamo | BE 2569 | Size: 13 × 6 × 2 cm

When it comes to Ajarn Kitkamo, most collectors would probably expect hardcore Prai materials, spirit-related ingredients, or something unusual hidden inside the piece. But not this Phra Ngan.

No Prai, no fancy ingredients, and nothing extra stuffed into the base. This is an older Phra Ngan Bucha that had already spent many years in Ajarn Kitkamo’s samnak, receiving chanting and blessings before he had polished, and then personally engraved yants across almost the entire figure and released it in BE 2569.

And we’re not talking about a few yants engraved on the back just for the sake of having them.

Phra Ngan Was Never Just About Love & Money

Phra Ngan, also known as Phra Ngang, has a rather complicated history. Ask different practitioners where Ngan originally came from, and you’ll probably hear different stories.

Some Khmer accounts describe Ngan as an ancient mountain deity, while another interpretation connects it to Shiva, one of the principal gods in Hinduism. Then there’s the old folk legend about a man who decided to enter religious life after being disappointed in love, only to abandon that decision when the woman he wanted returned.

Which account is true remains debatable. But Phra Ngan’s reputation has never been limited to love and attraction.

Maha Saneh is probably what most people associate with Ngan. And we’re not talking about ordinary charm or simply being well-liked. Traditional Ngan beliefs extend into stronger attraction, romantic fascination, lust, and sexual desire.

Metta, on the other hand, concerns gaining goodwill, popularity, and favour from others. Someone may be attracted to you without being willing to help, while another person may favour you without having any romantic interest.

For someone running a business, getting customers through the door is one thing. Getting them to trust you, favour you, and actually spend money is another. The same goes for someone who constantly gets overlooked, struggles to gain cooperation, or keeps losing opportunities to others.

Wealth, business opportunities, influence, persuasion, and windfall luck are all part of Ngan’s traditional reputation. Certain old-school traditions also associate it with protection, escaping danger, overcoming obstacles, and wish granting.

Some lineages include Kongkrapan and Klaew Klad, while more specialised Ngan wicca may extend into aggressive or retaliatory practices. These depend on the maker and the particular tradition, rather than applying to every Phra Ngan.

This is why Ngan is traditionally regarded as an all-rounder, covering much more than just love or wealth.

Not Just The Front & Back. Even The Hat & Base Are Engraved.

This Phra Ngan comes from an older metal casting that Ajarn Kitkamo had kept in his samnak for multiple years. Throughout that time, it received chanting and blessings.

Only in BE 2569 did Ajarn personally engrave the yants and release the Bucha. The original casting is older, although its exact age and metal composition remain unknown.

Now, take a proper look at the photographs.

The back is packed with fine inscriptions, covering the shoulders and body before continuing down towards the seated section. The rear base carries even more yants, including a larger spiral-shaped inscription surrounded by smaller characters.

Turn it around, and you’ll find more yants across the front base, chest, arms, and hat. Ajarn didn’t simply engrave a few characters on the front and back. He continued across the narrower areas and curves, fitting inscriptions wherever there was room.

Every single yant was personally engraved by Ajarn Kitkamo.

These are traditional sacred inscriptions associated with the practitioner’s ritual knowledge and wicca. The individual purposes of these particular yants have not been confirmed, so we won’t assign meanings to them.

Traditional Murn Sarn. Nothing Else Added.

The bottom contains a traditional Murn Sarn blend, including old Murn Sarn passed down from Ajarn Kitkamo’s teachers, materials collected from temples, and traditional Wan herbs.

Compared to many modern Phra Ngan, this Bucha may look extremely simple. But don’t let its appearance fool you. The real essence lies in the materials, the years of blessings, and the yants personally engraved by Ajarn.

Unlike Ajarn Kitkamo’s more familiar hardcore Prai creations, this Phra Ngan follows a traditional non-Prai approach.
