Description

Ajarn Kitkamo | BE 2569 (Yants Engraved) | Size: 6.9 × 12 × 8.5 cm approx. (H × W × D, including handles)

Altars fill up quickly. One piece for wealth, another for protection, another for business, and soon there’s barely any space left. Yet the problems you bring to the altar keep changing. Sometimes you just want something smaller that isn’t tied to one particular purpose.

This old samrit incense urn from Ajarn Kitkamo is meant for exactly that. An all-rounder that can remain on the altar, supporting different matters without taking up too much space.

Old Samrit, Freshly Engraved Yants

The urn itself is already old, although its exact age and earlier history remain unknown. Its samrit has darkened considerably, with patches of green oxidation around different areas, particularly the animal-head handles and lower pedestal. The rounded body also shows uneven ageing, giving it a rather different appearance from a newly made incense urn.

Shortly before we collected it in BE 2569, Ajarn Kitkamo personally engraved numerous yants and sacred characters across the old samrit. Some are larger, while smaller characters fill the spaces between them. The engravings cover much of its rounded body and extend towards the base.

Because he engraved the yants recently, the fresh cuts stand out against the older, darkened metal. We don’t know what the urn went through before reaching him. However, the ageing of the samrit and his personal engravings are both clearly visible. After completing the engravings, Ajarn Kitkamo also gave the urn its final blessing together with other ritual pieces before we collected it.

Not Restricted to One Particular Effect

An incense urn has long held an important place in altar worship. People return to their altars for different reasons, whether money, business, protection, luck, or personal troubles. What troubles you today may not be the same thing you’re dealing with tomorrow.

Rather than concentrating entirely on one particular effect, this old samrit incense urn is intended as an all-rounder. It is meant to provide general support across different aspects of life while also supporting the owner’s altar.

For those who already keep amulets, bucha, phayant, and other sacred objects, the urn can remain alongside them. Instead of restricting it to one particular wish, you can keep it as part of your regular prayers and offerings.

Small Enough for Mainstream or Prai Altars

At approximately 6.9 cm tall and 12 cm wide, including the handles, this urn is particularly suitable for smaller altars. Even when space is limited, it shouldn’t be difficult to find somewhere to place it among your existing pieces.

We rarely come across incense urns this small, especially among newer ones. Most are considerably larger, so finding an older samrit piece of this size is rather interesting.

You can keep it on either a mainstream or prai altar. If you regularly burn incense, simply use it for your usual offerings and prayers. However, burning incense is not compulsory.

For those who don’t burn incense, this old samrit incense urn can simply be kept and worshipped as a bucha, much like a statue. There is no need to burn anything inside or change your usual practices.
