Khun Chang was never the handsome one. Yet he stood opposite Khun Paen, one of the most famous lovers and occult warriors in Thai folklore, and still had something most men could only dream of: money, land, assets, status and the means to get what he wanted.

That is exactly why Khun Chang became a wicca of his own. Thai wicca came to connect him strongly with wealth attraction, Chok Lap, business, accumulation of assets, Metta Maha Niyom and Saneh.

Despite lacking Khun Phaen’s looks and reputation for charm, Khun Chang still managed to marry and live with Wanthong while competing against him directly. That contrast gives Khun Chang much of his appeal.

From the Days When the Good Materials Were Hidden Inside

By modern standards, this Khun Chang looks very simple. However, that simplicity is part of what makes it special.

Many older amulets followed a very different style from what we commonly see today. Instead of exposing every special ingredient on the surface, masters often crushed their wan, prai and other materials before blending them directly into the murn sarn.

As a result, much of the real recipe disappeared inside the amulet itself. Ajarn Wanchai made this Khun Chang in that same old-school manner.

Its murn sarn contains an elaborate blend of wan and prai materials. Ajarn painstakingly collected these materials one by one before mixing them directly into the body of the amulet.

And that is only the base. The piece also contains fossilized rice relics, a coffin nail, a piece of gradook and crystals.

The fossilized rice relics are especially fitting for Khun Chang. Traditional belief connects them with wealth, fertility and protection. Another old belief says they help the owner avoid complete poverty or being left without money for food.

In simpler terms, the belief is about always having enough to eat, enough to use and enough to keep going. That meaning fits Khun Chang almost perfectly because his story centres heavily on wealth, property, possessions and material abundance.

Together with the coffin nail, gradook, crystals and old wan-and-prai murn sarn, these materials give the piece its real substance. Ajarn did not build this Khun Chang around appearance; he built it around the wicca.
