When a strange green light moves across an empty field after dark, old villagers know better than to follow it. It may not be a lantern or someone walking in the distance. It may be Phi Pong, a blood-hungry spirit believed to appear human during the day.

Once night falls, its other form comes out. Old stories say it roams through fields and isolated places, feeding on frogs and other animals. Those who see the strange green light from far away usually know not to go closer.

Phu Lersi Pong made this Phi Pong bucha together with Ajarn Mee, his disciple. They built the batch around Wan Phi Pong and a heavy mix of prai materials placed beneath every piece. As each bucha was completed separately, the exact appearance and arrangement will differ.

What Is Phi Pong?

Phi Pong, written in Thai as ผีโพง, comes from the old ghost beliefs of Northern Thailand. In some parts of Isan, people also know it as Phi Phao.

During the day, Phi Pong may look no different from an ordinary person. However, once darkness falls, its hidden form comes out. Old stories describe it with long hair and a face glowing an unnatural green.

It moves through fields, forests and quiet places in search of food. From far away, someone may only notice a strange green light drifting through the darkness. By the time they understand what they are seeing, Phi Pong may already be nearby.

Some traditions connect Phi Pong with inherited occult power. Others tie it directly to the mysterious plant known as Wan Phi Pong.

Wan Phi Pong – The Plant Behind the Blood Demon

Wan Phi Pong is an occult plant closely connected with Phi Pong wicca. According to old accounts, it cannot be raised like an ordinary plant.

Some stories describe the keeper using soil gathered from seven cemeteries. The plant is then chanted over regularly and fed with animal blood. As it grows stronger, parts of its leaves may begin turning purple.

Eventually, a strange light is said to rise from the plant after dark. At that point, people believe something inside it has awakened.

Some stories say the awakened Phi Pong takes after the person who raised it. However, it appears with long hair, a glowing green face and a hunger that sends it out at night.

Old beliefs also say Phi Pong is not completely good or evil by itself. Instead, its nature follows the person keeping it. A good keeper may direct it towards protection, while someone darker may use the same force for darker work.

Because of this, Wan Phi Pong became a feared and valuable ingredient among those who understand prai and barang. Masters may crush parts of the plant into powder. They then add it into murn sarn, oils, waxes and other occult items.

A Wicca Few Makers Dare to Touch

Most barang collectors have heard of Ngan, Mae Per, Yintong, Hong Prai and Phi Tai Hong. However, Phi Pong is far less common.

Many people may recognise the name, but very few understand Wan Phi Pong or the wicca connected with it. Even among occult makers, this is not something everyone knows or dares to handle.

Phu Lersi Pong and Ajarn Mee made this batch using their prai wicca. They also packed a heavy mix of materials beneath every piece. The exposed bases show how differently each bucha was completed.

Every Phi Pong Bucha Is Different

Phu Lersi Pong and Ajarn Mee filled and finished every piece separately. Therefore, the visible layout and additional ingredients may differ from one bucha to another.

No two pieces are exactly the same. However, the key materials used throughout the batch include:

• Wan Phi Pong
• Nam Man Prai
• Pong Prai
• Gradook Phi
• Coffin screws
• Sai Sin

Older occult items often contain coffin nails. However, some newer coffins use screws instead. This is why coffin screws were used in this batch.

The makers also added other ingredients that were not fully revealed. Therefore, some pieces may show different additions or arrangements beneath the body. The main Phi Pong materials remain consistent throughout the batch.

A few pieces may show minor paint chips or light surface wear from earlier storage. These are only cosmetic and do not affect the materials or consecration.

The Hunger Is Given a Direction

In the old stories, Phi Pong moves according to its hunger. In this bucha, the wicca is meant to control and direct that fierce nature.

It is not made soft or harmless. Instead, the aggression behind Phi Pong is turned towards protection, progress and the owner’s needs.

This is not just another gentle metta charm. Phi Pong is believed to move, search and hunt. It is also believed to work against hidden jealousy, harmful intentions and plans made behind the owner’s back.
