However, while some online sources describe Mae Per differently, the Khmer legend presents a deeper perspective.

The Story

She was once a beautiful young woman, the daughter of a local merchant.

Mae Per frequently assisted her mother at the market. As a result, she excelled at sales and drew attention with her charm and grace.

One day, Mae Per’s mother had to leave the market. Therefore, she entrusted her daughter to watch over the store.

As time passed, the shop remained empty. Eventually, Mae Per fell asleep.
