Old School Amulet — The Simpler They Look, The Stronger They Often Are
Do you know what many older Thai amulets have in common?
Simple in appearance, powerful in strength.
Among traditional or older pieces, the more special the amulet is, the simpler it often appears on the outside.
Modern releases frequently emphasize appearance — unrolled takrut displaying intricate yantra artwork, large visible chunks of sacred materials, and elaborate designs meant to showcase what is inside.
Older masters, however, believed in the opposite approach.
They believed the real power should remain hidden.
Elaborate yantras would be rolled tightly and sealed away from sight. Sometimes wrapped with sacred threads, sometimes enclosed within muan sarn. The only way to see them would be to destroy the piece itself.
Powdered amulets followed the same philosophy. Sacred materials were crushed into extremely fine powder, ensuring that even under magnification, most people would not be able to identify the exact blend.
To the masters, these mixtures were more than ingredients.
They were guarded spiritual recipes.
While many modern masters today are more open about their creations, certain traditions still remain protected.
Not everything is meant to be revealed.
A Thai Wealth Takrut Created with Secret Wicca
This piece is a perfect example.
Created by Phu Lersi Pong, this takrut was made specifically for wealth attraction and accumulation, using what is said to be some of the most powerful money-related wicca known to him.
So secretive were these formulas that the names of the wicca were never disclosed.
What we do know, however, are the materials used.
The list is not long — but it is exceptionally unusual.
Sacred Materials Within
-
Real Gold Takrut sheet
-
Real Silver Takrut sheet
-
Yanted large Thai banknotes
-
Yanted large Malaysia banknotes
-
The zip and cloth from a clutch bag belonging to a wealthy Chinese businessman
The Billionaire Clutch Bag
The clutch bag belonged to a wealthy Chinese businessman known as Ah Heng, a close devotee of Phu Lersi Pong.
A low-profile billionaire based in Malaysia, it is said that his clutch bag always contains tens of thousands in cash daily.
For this reason, materials connected to such a bag are believed to carry the symbolic imprint of accumulated wealth.
The belief behind this follows a concept very similar to Feng Shui wealth symbolism.
Keeping cash inside a wallet represents the continuous flow of wealth — the more present, the stronger the symbolism of abundance.
In this case, the clutch bag itself is believed to carry the wealth luck of Ah Heng.
The zip from the bag represents money being “zipped in” — wealth being kept and accumulated rather than lost.
Sealed with Wild Bodhi Tree Resin (Krang)
All of these materials were rolled together into the takrut and then sealed using sacred tree resin known as Wild Bodhi Tree Resin, also called Krang.
Krang has long been believed to strengthen and amplify the power of spiritual objects to which it is attached.
This resin not only seals the takrut but also acts as a protective layer preserving the spiritual energy within.
Hidden Internal Construction
Due to the age of this piece, no photographs exist of the internal structure.
However, based on what we were told — and judging from its size — the takrut inside is likely quite substantial.
It may contain multiple sheets and a lengthy roll of takrut, similar to the custom takrut made by Phu Lersi Pong which can contain up to three feet of sacred takrut material.
Upon request, the exterior was then fully yanted, and the piece was cased for ease of wear.
